The Art of Advertising

We do everything advertising day-in day-out and we love our jobs! And sometimes we really let our creative juices flow just for the fun of it. Check out these neat and totally original wallpaper graphic designs created by our staff. If you see one you like, download it and give your desktop a little GCI sizzle. It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. To use any of these wallpapers click on your desired resolution (not sure which? 1600×1200 is a pretty safe bet for most monitors).
  2. Once the image fully loads in a new window right-click and select ‘set as desktop wallpaper’ or some similar option (may vary from browser to browser).
  3. Voila! New desktop hotness, straight from our brains to your computer! Hooray!

Enjoy! -The Team

Shopping locally is EASY with choices like these!

Easy options:

Get your groceries from Ralph’s/Bayview Thriftway, the Co-ops, or the Farmers Market.

Go shopping at Archibald Sisters, Childhoods End Gallery, Wind-up Here, or The Sofa Gallery.

Dine at the Farmer’s Market, Budd Bay Cafe, Oyster House, Sorrento Restaurant, Mercato, Riccardo’s, Lemon Grass, Quality Burrito, or Dockside Bistro

For fun try an outing to the Percival Landing area where you can enjoy the market. Frolic and cool off in the water fountain followed by a great sandwich from Traditions Cafe, then stroll along Percival Landing and end up at Bayview Thriftway for gelato and a 5-star view of the bay from their upstairs dining area. Look for wine tastings at The Wine Loft, Check out live entertainment at Harlequin Productions, Olympia Little Theatre, and The Washington Center. Attend Music in the Park, take a tour of the state capitol, visit the Hands-on Children’s Museum, or Olympic Flight Museum.

We have all sorts of specialties stores in the South Sound. Patronizing locally-owned businesses keeps the economy kicking.
(GCI is proud to use local vendors wherever possible!)

For more ideas on local shopping opportunities check out Sustainable South Sound.

Golly Gee

Did everyone see the cute smart nerdy little money pig in the “g-whiz” e-blast we sent out today?? I think all of the lucky ducks who did would have to agree that it was super adorable.

GCI sends out great e-blast messages. If you’re not on the e-mail list and want to be (since it’s no fun feeling left out) then you should send an e-mail request to “the team” or use our contact form. Keep in mind, the e-blasts come with some awesome stuff that doesn’t show up in our blog or site and I don’t mean farm animals (though I am still crazy about that little piggy). No,we’re talking really helpful tips!

-Jenny

(P.S. If you need help getting your own e-blasts going we can help with that too.)

Social Networking

It’s a great thing for your business, but how should you go about it?

  • Join networks (sites) that are relevant to the people you want to connect with.
  • Be smart with your profile. This may be a first impression of you. It’s also an opportunity to increase your SEO.
  • Add friends and join groups because they are relevant. (Don’t aim for quantity.)
  • Create strategic partnerships with other companies.
  • Keep in mind the human element rules this forum. Write like you speak.
  • Don’t write things as though your reader is your best friend. You want to connect with people, but that doesn’t mean you should write about the date you went on last night.
  • Create a blog to go full circle with your communication.
  • Include employees in the process. They will strengthen the voice and logically fit into your network.
  • Reference your social networking site in your other materials, especially on your company site.

What sites are out there?

LinkedIn and Fastpitch are great for connecting with other professionals.

Xing is good for getting your presence recognized overseas.

Facebook and Myspace are great for reaching consumers. (Speaking of Facebook, we have company and group pages, just search for “GCI Ad Agency” and both will come up in site’s results.)

Twitter is as a place to share what you’re up to with other professionals or consumers.

Yelp is a place to list your local business and encourage discussion about it.

WordPress running a blog on your site can add punch to communication when people are viewing your fullest web presence. (You’re looking at what WordPress can do right now.)

A list of other networking sites can be found here.

As always, you don’t have to start this venture alone, we’re happy to help guide you. Please feel free to call and come in or ask questions by commenting on this post.

By the way, we’re on Facebook. (Search for “GCI Ad Agency”. We have both company and group pages.)
